“It’s a question of mindset”.
At the first digital event of the Transatlantic Female Forum, participants talked with Federal Minister of Defence Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer about the future of transatlantic relations and discussed how women can be encouraged to get involved in classically male-dominated issues. “It is a question of mindset,” Ms. Kramp-Karrenbauer stressed, pointing out on the one hand that Germany’s attitude regarding its defence and security policy needs to change and that Germany needs to fulfil its leadership role in Europe. At the same time, she said, it is part of a modern society to include women in these discussions and to open up opportunities and possibilities for them.
“That is why the Transatlantic Female Forum serves a dual purpose,” Kramp-Karrenbauer said. Forums like the TFF are needed to help shape the transatlantic reboot and give women a powerful voice in the process.
